On September 29, 2024, the Santa Clara Aquatics Foundation hosted a well-attended City Council Candidate Forum at the newly renovated Santa Clara Swim Club Swim School, located at 575 Pomeroy Avenue, formerly known as Killarney Farms Swim Center. Six candidates for the upcoming city council elections took part in the forum, which provided a platform for local residents to hear from those seeking office.
The candidates in attendance were Kevin Park (D4), Anthony Becker (D6), Teresa O’Neil (D4), Harbir Bhatia (D1), Satish Chandra (D1), and Suds Jain (D5). They appeared on the dais in that order selected at random. Vikas Gupta, president of the Santa Clara Aquatics Foundation, served as the moderator. Candidates Kelly Cox (D6), David Kertes (D5), George Guerra (D6), and Alberto Gonzalez (D1) were unable to attend due to prior commitments.
The forum's ground rules emphasized thoughtful discourse, with a clear request for candidates to avoid personal attacks. All six participating candidates adhered to these guidelines, keeping the forum civil, informative, and engaging for the audience.

The Santa Clara Aquatics Foundation was grateful to the Santa Clara Swim Club for hosting this event at their newly opened swim school facility. Acquired in February 2024, the former Killarney Farms Swim Center has been rehabilitated and now serves as the permanent location of the Santa Clara Swim Club Swim School. In addition to its role as an aquatics education hub, the facility offers community lap swim, recreational swim, and hosts special events in aquatics for the greater Santa Clara community.
The Santa Clara Aquatics Foundation, a nonprofit organization, combines the legacy and energy of the Santa Clara Swim Club, Santa Clara Dive Club, Santa Clara Artistic Swimming Club (Aquamaids), and the community to advocate for the future of aquatics in Santa Clara.
